Katie Couric "steps into the spotlight as the first woman to anchor the evening news solo."

"She's the first woman hired to anchor one of the three network nightly newscasts on her own. Predecessors Barbara Walters, Connie Chung and Elizabeth Vargas only got their jobs in partnership with men.
That milestone moved Rochelle Riley, columnist at the Detroit Free Press, to urge women across the country to watch Couric.
'You don't have to be a fan,' Riley wrote. 'You don't even have to like the news. But progress requires it.' "

I find it highly illogical and just plain stupid that I, being a woman, should be required to watch the news just because a woman is reporting it. I have always gotten my news from a variety of sources and don't plan on changing my ways just because some "cute brunette" is sitting behind the desk...not that I have anything against KC, just the ridiculous "logic" of women.
I just glad we reached this "milestone" so my conscience can rest easy!
