Social Graces

I was taught never to whistle at girls because it's rude and because they don't like it.

I was running the other day with two other Marines when we received hoots and whistles from a passing car of girls. I liked it. I didn't ask, but the other guys clearly didn't mind either. So what gives? Is this a one-way street?

Yep, it's a one way street. The whistle essentially indicates "you're hot and I want you" which is offensive to many women but a total compliment to most guys. Girls can be offended if they think you only want them for your body - much more of a compliment to the average guy. They think different, don't know what else to tell you. (jennifer shaw)

that's BS...it's not offensive to a woman to tell her "you're hot and i want you"...

when she slaps your face and walks away, she's got a smile on her face that you can't see.

My question is - isn't the fact that hot girls say they don't like to be whistled at the best reason to do it?
